The story behind C.Lab
How a developer discovered that teaching code is really about teaching creativity
From building software to building minds
I spent over 15 years writing code professionally. Web apps, software tools, digital products. I was good at solving problems with code. But somewhere along the way, I started asking myself: what if code wasn't just about solving problems? What if it was a way to create?
That question led me to start C.Lab Academy. Not as a side project, but as a real commitment. I wanted to teach kids that code isn't just a professional skill you learn for a future job—it's a creative language you can use right now.
A few months after launching the academy, I became a technology teacher at the French International School of Seoul. Now I teach in two worlds: the institutional classroom and my own academy. That dual perspective has shown me something important.
In schools, we teach technology as a subject. At C.Lab, I teach it as a medium. Like drawing or music, code is a way to express ideas, build worlds, and tell stories. Teaching in both settings gives me the best of each—the rigor of structured education and the freedom of creative exploration. Kids who see code that way don't just learn syntax—they learn to think like creators.
That's what this academy is about. Not preparing kids for tech careers — but giving them a creative language they can use to build anything they imagine.
What we believe
Every child has ideas. Most don't have a way to build them. We teach code as a creative tool—so kids can turn imagination into something real. When they see code as a creative language, they stop asking, "What is this for?" and start asking, "What can I make?" They become builders, not just learners.
How we teach
Creativity first
We start with ideas, not syntax. Every project begins with "What do you want to create?" not "What command should we learn?"
Hands-on building
No lectures. No theory-heavy lessons. Students learn by making things—games, animations, interactive art.
Small groups
Classes are intentionally small (4-6 kids max) so everyone gets real attention and space to explore.
Patient guidance
Mistakes are part of the process. We don't rush. We make sure every concept clicks before moving forward.
Child Safety & Trust
At C.Lab Academy, your child’s safety is our top priority. Our founder holds a criminal background check certificate, as required by Korean law for working with minors. We maintain strict child protection protocols and a safe, supervised learning environment at all times.
Let's build something together
If your child loves building, experimenting, or just asking "What if?"—this is the place for them.
